Coetzee), Viceroy of Ouidah (Bruce Chatwin) and Here is Where We Meet (John Berger).

I doubt I'll read four books this year that'll shake me as these did. I very much hope I'm wrong.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9082470.post-1168147631073329972007-01-07T10:57:00.000+05:302007-01-07T10:57:00.000+05:30Edward Albee's Stretching my Mind - crisp and pung...Edward Albee's Stretching my Mind - crisp and pungent.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9082470.post-1168107131993419872007-01-06T23:42:00.000+05:302007-01-06T23:42:00.000+05:30Anirudh - So many people are keeping me so busy by...Anirudh - So many people are keeping me so busy by making so many demands of me that I haven't had much time to read, let alone drink chikoo milkshakes, and the bit of reading time I have had has been spent in suffering an execrable new book. But something should be up soon. When in trouble, always promise.Chandrahashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07483080477755487202noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9082470.post-1168062906989928382007-01-06T11:25:00.000+05:302007-01-06T11:25:00.000+05:30You have consumed enough Chikoo milkshakes, dear s...You have consumed enough Chikoo milkshakes, dear sir. This is more than double what I read in 2005, due to various factors (explained in more detail in the post). They're broken down into categories, and I denoted the ones that I liked the best. :)

http://www.zandria.us/archives/000925.htmlAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9082470.post-1167403427145942662006-12-29T20:13:00.000+05:302006-12-29T20:13:00.000+05:30I never ever tire of end of year lists. It is indeed one of the better second-hand bookshops in the country. Conversations between the director and the cinephile. I find Godard one of the most exhilirating directors, one whose concerns are formal and political in equal measure. (the lowers case in the title is in the book).

Poetry: The World's Wife Carol Ann Duffy. It's an old collection - 1999, but I've just discovered her. She's the 2006 winner of the T.S.Eliot Prize.

Children's Literature: (Again, an old one, but a wonderful book) Kingdom Under The Sea and Other Stories by Joan Aiken (Conrad Aiken's daughter). The illustrations by Jan Pienkowski are beautiful. Reminded me of Lotte Reineger's films - all shadow play.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9082470.post-1167106592813642502006-12-26T09:46:00.000+05:302006-12-26T09:46:00.000+05:30Cool picks.
